Product Description

The TestDrop Pro is a water lab in the palm of your hand. This personal water tester can detect over 20 of the most common water contaminants— including bacteria, chemicals, and metals— in just 2 seconds. Results are immediate, with a red light to signal the presence of contaminants and a blue light if none are found. Easy to use and small enough to fit on a keychain, it even features separate buttons for tap water, bottled water, and natural water.

The TestDrop Pro is reusable for up to thousands of uses, and tests the water without even touching it. Best of all, the data you collect can be sent simultaneously to the free, dedicated Lishtot app for further analysis and to track your testing history.

According to the "Lishtot TestDrop Pro Test Protocol and Interpretation" study conducted by MIT on the field in Nepal, the "Lishtot TestDrop was the only system tested that did not require adding something to the water or require an incubation time. It was also the fastest system to results of those tested... the device can identify contaminations quickly and with high apparent reproducibility," making it very useful in a wide variety of applications.

TestDrop Pro is made by Lishtot, which was named one of TIME Magazine’s 2018 Genius Companies.

FAQ
Are there guarantees as to reliability of the product?

The list of detectable contaminants is based on 90% detection success for the EPA concentration shown. Additionally, Lishtot has outside lab validation of sensor performance. No diagnostic device is perfect and no guarantees can be given. Even medical sensors and tests have published false negative/false positive rates. If the TestDrop Pro is used properly, Lishtot believes that a user has a strong likelihood of detecting a listed contamination at the EPA or higher concentration.

Do you have a pool tester?

The buttons are programmable so one could lower the sensitivity to reflect "clean" pool water and any change from there could be considered not clean.

Does it work in the ocean?

With the lowest sensitivity button, the one with the trees, it may well be able to distinguish.

What are the 20 contaminants that it detects?

Here is a list of the contaminants it detects.

Can you use this on carbonated water?

Based on fairly limited testing, yes, it appears to work very well with good quality carbonated water.

Can the batteries be replaced?

The battery can be easily replaced by removing the bottom cover.

Do the results give pH levels of water?

No, the device does not measure pH.

Does the sensitivity of the device in detecting water contaminants vary based on water temperature?

No major temperature effects up to say 50 degrees C. Too high a temp and the cup gets coated inside with water vapor and there is no more meaningful signal.

Does it display PPM for each contaminant found?

The app does not yet provide the specifics of contamination type but we are working on an updated version of the app that will provide additional data on what is believed to be present in a contaminated sample.

Are the Batteries the only part that needs to be replaced?

Only the batteries need to be replaced.

Will it shows levels of fluoride?

The device has been used to successfully detect fluoride at 4 ppm. The EPA guideline for secondary contaminants is 2 ppm.

Is this device good to test open stream and pond water to determine if its safe to drink?

The device is intended for use with different types of drinking water. There are 3 buttons representing different levels of stringency as to the cleanliness of the water. The "Nature" button is the least strict as natural water sources tend to have organic material from dead leaves, fish debris and potentially skin if there is bathing. Natural sources tend to score red but there are some very clean flowing rivers that we have measured blue.
