Wine Snob* is a Sonoma Valley winery that produces wines from sustainably and organically farmed grapes and has more than a little fun with it! They’re a husband-and-wife team of two, and their goal is to create top-notch wines that are yummy, interesting, unadulterated, and reasonably priced. That’s why they’re Wine Snob* with an asterisk: You don’t have to be a know-it-all to enjoy wine—your taste buds, your rules.

Puma-1, or P1, was the first mountain lion tracked in the North Bay by Audubon Canyon Ranch’s mountain lion research and education project, Living with Lions. She lived to be an incredible 16 years old and was dubbed “SuPUMAma” for being a “Super Mama” to at least three litters of kittens. Her roaming territory was a roughly 30-square-mile area in Sonoma Valley that happened to include the vineyard site in Glen Ellen. And Wine Snob* was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of her on the Wine Snob* vineyard trail camera on a few occasions. P1 is no longer with us, but they wanted to bottle a wine to celebrate her and help support Living with Lions.

This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma Valley has notes of mixed berry jam, baking spices, cedar, and toffee. Its subtle strength is a nod to P1’s long reign as Glen Ellen’s feline matriarch.

Food Pairings: Yes, a filet mignon would be delicious with this wine, but so would a blue cheese-and-bacon burger on a pretzel bun.
