Solaria Vineyard was founded in 1989 by Patrizia Cencioni, though its origins go back to the family estate created in the 1950s by Grandpa Giuseppe Cencioni. The Azienda Agricola Patrizia Cencioni is a family-owned and run winery that is on the southeast slope of the Montalcino hillside, sheltered from the cold winds from the east by Mount Amiata and from the north by the rise of Montalcino. This unique microclimate allows the Sangiovese Grosso grapes (from which Brunello di Montalcino comes) the perfect amount of time to develop.

2012 was a five-star vintage in Montalcino and critic James Suckling calls it “a vintage not to be missed by fans of Brunello.” The Cencioni family is a rising star in the region, but they have resisted the trend toward the higher prices adopted by their neighbors. Grab a few bottles of this wine from this vintage before they are gone!

A full-bodied, opulent wine that shows complexity and finesse. Aromas of dark-skinned berry and forest floor blend well with the oak in which it was aged alongside elegant and distinctive flavors of black cherry, vanilla, tobacco, and licorice. The resulting wine is structured and firm with ultra-fine tannins and a juicy, delicious, and very persistent finish.
