About the Designer

For Amélie Lucier and Julien Mongeau the road to becoming designers was never so conventional. They both studied in traditional crafts (Amélie pursued ceramics and Julien did glass). They still make everything with their own hands today, but they decided to specialize their respective trades when they both realized how interested they were with functional objects, especially those for the kitchen. In crafting their own aesthetic for these things—acknowledging the importance of shape, color, dimensions—everything had become a process of design, and no longer just craft.
