American Fire Lighter Kit
Product Description
The American Fire Lighter Company was founded in 2007 by brothers Todd and Chad Keehfus. Growing up with a love of camping and the outdoors, Todd and Chad wanted to solve the age old problem of lighting a fire—scrounging for kindling, scouring through the trash for old newspapers, or even buying starter logs that clogged the chimney. They quickly went to work redesigning the classic CapeCod FireLighter. Designed to work wonderfully with wood-burning fireplaces, ceramic grills, and outdoor fire-pits alike, the American Fire Lighter Kit is an heirloom in the making.
This complete set eliminates the need for kindling, Fatwood, or crumpled, dirty newspapers when starting a beautiful, roaring fire. The beautifully handcrafted ceramic jar houses the odorless, clean-burning oil along with a reusable firestone attached to an artistically crafted, cold-rolled steel rod. To start your fire, simply soak the Fire Lighter in the oil, then roll it lightly in the fireplace ash. The ash acts as a wick so you can use a match or lighter to ignite your Fire Lighter, then place it under your fireplace grate and seasoned firewood to get your fire going. Once the Fire Lighter is cold, carefully place it back in the ceramic jar to store until you're ready for your next fire.
The American Fire Lighter Company's commitment to creating, supporting, and buying American-made products is evident in every detail, from their clean-burning Candle and Lamp Oil manufactured in Upstate New York, to their artistic stoneware jars made in Zanesville, Ohio—the “Stoneware Capital of the World.” Each jar is carefully crafted by hand for a unique, nostalgic look you can proudly display on your hearth or mantle.
