Product Description

Ancient Rome, Imperial Period, c. 1st - 3rd Century AD. A beautiful Roman bronze olpe, which was a type of decanter for pouring oil or wine. The body is squat with lathed ring foot and narrow neck with trefoil pouring spout and attached strap handle. The neck is nicely decorated with incised horizontal bands and the vessel is attractively patinated with a brown patina with areas of green and blue-green. There's an age crack on foot, otherwise well-preserved and a nice and absolutely classic Roman bronze vessel from the Imperial period!

Accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity which includes all the details, culture, dating, motifs/inscriptions when applicable, historical relevance, and provenance.
