Ancient Rome. Diva Faustina the Elder, empress to Antoninus Pius, 138-161. Lovely silver denarius, struck c. 141-150 AD, Rome Mint. The coin depicts the draped bust of Faustina right, DIVA FAUSTINA / The back depicts the goddess Pietas (Piety) standing, right hand over an altar, AVGVSTA around. ref: RIC 373-374; Sear 4589; RSC 124. for type. Excellent portrait! Set into custom .925 silver bezel adorned with a genuine garnet, and 18-inch Italian silver “foxtail” chain. Coin diameter 17mm, total bezel diameter 25mm.
