Ancient Rome. Julia Domna, empress to the emperor Caracalla, 211-217 AD. Nice silver denarius, set into a custom silver bezel adorned with 3 genuine garnets, and 18-inch Italian silver chain. The coin depicts the draped bust of the empress facing right, IVLIA AVGVSTA / The back depicts the Roman goddess Juno, protector of the state and the Roman version of the Greek goddess Hera, queen of the gods. She is depicted standing left holding a patera and sceptre, Peacock at the foot to her left. The inscription around reads IVNO REGINA.
