From the time of the Black Death, c. 1340-1360 AD, this silver coin was struck in Hall, Germany. It's a silver "Heller", featuring the Hand of God with palm forward and a cross with arms ending in pellets, all within circular border.
Possibly the most devastating pandemic in human history, the Black Plague (also known as the Black Death) ravaged Europe in the mid-1300's, peaking between the years 1347 and 1350. Now known as the Bubonic Plague, the disease is estimated to have killed 75 million people, roughly 30-60% of Europe's population.
