Alabama Hills and Distant Mt. Whitney

The Alabama Hills are located at the feet of Mt. Whitney, near Lone Pine, California. The solid bedrock of both is composed of the same kind of granite, but the lower elevation has caused the rock to erode in all sorts of organic shapes, all which makes for incredible photography. Andrew Quist took this shot early in the morning with the Whitney suite of mountains far in the background.

About the Designer
In 2006 I borrowed my dad’s little Canon Digital Rebel for a trip I took to Tennessee. I started playing with all the options that a digital SLR camera afforded and stretched out in the freedom of the digital format. That was it, I fell in love with the art. My Dad gave me my own camera that following Christmas and then I was off! Over the next few years I took my camera everywhere with me and began developing my eye. It was my interest in the Sierra Nevada and live music performance in which I really found my focus in photography.
