This was taken on a bitterly cold day from the valley view made famous by Ansel Adams. It's very different take from that very vantage point, however. The images of Yosemite Valley were just popping out that particular morning. It was a little late in the morning and the light was harsh. So Andrew Quist looked down to his right and saw this beautiful little detail: the dew on the sedge grass sliding down the blades, to the frigid Merced. The dew had formed little bells of ice...

In 2006 I borrowed my dad’s little Canon Digital Rebel for a trip I took to Tennessee. I started playing with all the options that a digital SLR camera afforded and stretched out in the freedom of the digital format. That was it, I fell in love with the art. My Dad gave me my own camera that following Christmas and then I was off! Over the next few years I took my camera everywhere with me and began developing my eye. It was my interest in the Sierra Nevada and live music performance in which I really found my focus in photography.
