Product Description

This small bowl is hand-shaped from Orthoceras fossil stone found in Morocco. Its unique pattern in tones of gray and black make for an interesting display or keepsake dish for keys, small trinkets, or candy.

Orthoceras ("straight horn") is a genus of extinct nautiloid cephalopod. This genus is sometimes called Orthoceratites. These are slender, elongate shells with the middle of the body chamber transversely constricted, and a subcentral orthochromatic siphuncle. The surface is ornamented by a network of fine lirae.
