AAA quality, fossilized and calcified ammonite shell with an iridescent, opalized shimmer displaying hints of blue, yellow, green, and vibrant red. This opalized fossil is all natural- opal has filled the spaces in the fossilized shell that remained. This process doesn't happen overnight! It takes roughly 5 million years to solidify just one centimeter of opal. The fossilized shells of Ammonites are typically spiral-shaped, very much like that of the Nautilus. However, around 170 million years ago, these squid-like creatures began to build their shells in exotic, highly variable shapes.
