A stunning piece of natural history, this meteorite is a natural Muonionalusta Meteorite with one side sliced and polished to show its beautiful, metallic Widmanstätten pattern. The Muonionalusta is a meteorite classified as fine octahedrite, type IVA (Of) which impacted in northern Scandinavia, west of the border between Sweden and Finland, about one million years BCE. The meteorite was first described in 1910 by Professor A. G. Högbom, who named it "Muonionalusta", after a nearby place on the Muonio River. Truly a unique addition to any collection, this piece is mounted on a custom black metal stand for convenient display.
