Scribe Winery was founded in 2007 by fourth-generation California farmers and brothers, Andrew and Adam Mariani, on a property that pioneered pre-prohibition Sonoma Valley winemaking. Andrew and Adam believe that the best wines are a result of a healthy relationship between man and nature, and that a vineyard managed in harmony with the greater ecosystem results in more site-specific wines that represent a sense of time and place. When vinified with non-interventionist methods, the result is a distinct wine that faithfully reflects what the vineyard naturally expresses.

2017 Atlas Peak West Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested between September 11th and October 6th , 2017. The fruit was fully de-stemmed into open-top stainless-steel fermenters where they underwent a short cold maceration followed by a wild yeast fermentation. The wine was pressed off after 18-28 days on skins. The wine was then aged for 20 months in 60-gallon barriques of which 31% were new French oak and the remainder were all neutral French oak barrels. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered on June 17th, 2019.

This wine takes you on a vacation to Napa Valley and up the slopes of Atlas Peak. High above the valley floor, this wine is grown on the Western climbs above the fog line on the Vaca mountain range. Notes of juicy black cherry, red currants, and clove dance on the palate. The nose is a focused perfume of Italian Maraschino cherry, cedar and peppercorn. The wine is amazingly seductive already, with flavors of diamond clarity and a long and lingering bright finish. Evocative of the cool mornings and sun-drenched warm afternoons, this wine shows the duality of the mountainside perfectly.
