Do the chronograph buttons work or are they just for show?

All pushers are working. The pusher above the crown in the middle starts and stops the Chronograph and the pusher under the crown resets the Chronograph. The little dial on the 6 counts the minute and the little dial on the 9 add these minutes up to an hour. The little dial on the 3 has its own function, a 24-hour dial.

What is the crystal material?

As the domed shape of the crystal has no bezel (the steel ring that protects the glass) the glass would be too hard and break too easy when we use sapphire. We use plexiglass as a crystal.
