Each filter lasts 1 year.

Could this erase the smell of smoke?

The active carbon will help remove odors of smoke in the air, but it will not remove the smell of smoke from things such as fabric or carpet. The best thing to do to combat smoke is to have the soft surfaces cleaned and then treat the air with a purifier.
