2004 P Thomas Edison Proof Silver Dollar Deep Cameo
Product Description
Up for sale is a 2004 P (Philadelphia) Thomas Edison Commemorative Proof Silver Dollar coin. This coin was produced by the US Mint to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the invention of the light bulb by Thomas Edison.in 1879. We are now in 2023, that makes the light bulb 144 years old today.
Thomas Edison was quoted in 1908 “I do not regard myself as a pure scientist. I am only a professional inventor”. This was one of the greatest inventions of all time. We would still be in the dark ages using oil lamps without it!
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of the great inventor holding an early experimental light bulb in his laboratory. “LIBERTY” is across the top of the coin. The reverse design features a rendering of Edison's first light bulb. The coin shows light rays coming out from the light bulb.
All of the lines and marks on the coin are super sharp. A great example of what a proof coin should look like.
A perfect gift for any inventor on your holiday list!
