1996 Washington Mint Half Pound "Silver Certificate bar

Up for sale is a beautifully crafted HALF POUND Proof 1996 $500 “Silver Certificate” silver bar. This silver bar weighs in at 8 TROY OUNCES of .999 fine or 3 x 9’s fine as it’s known in the bullion market. It doesn’t get any higher than this in silver coinage production!

The cool thing about this half pound bar is the fact that the front is almost an exact copy of the 1896 $ 5 Educational Silver Certificate. They just changed the “FIVE SILVER DOLLARS” on the bottom of the note to “FIVE HUNDRED SILVER DOLLARS” on the bottom of the silver bar, so as to not counterfeit the note. And they changed the “V” on the sides of the note to “500” on the upper sides of the bars well.

You can see the intricate scrollwork with all of the lettering and sides on the front of the bar. The figures and lettering on the reverse have a very deep satin frosted finish. The front and reverse fields have a polished mirrored finish. You can actually see yourself if you look directly at the bar. Just the way a proof silver bar should look like. All of the details on the bar are super sharp and clean. The fine lines are struck in great detail. The bar is presented in its original packaging. The bar is encased in a clear acrylic case allowing both sides of the bar to be displayed. This silver bar is accompanied by the original Certificate of Authenticity (see pics).

This stunning “Silver Certificate” bar shows all the great qualities of what a PROOF strike should look like! Frosting on the coin is achieved by sandblasting the die and then polishing only the figures to a brilliant finish (which are also referred to as mirrored finish).

The “dollar bill” bar will come in a custom made and beautifully crafted satin inside liner and a velvet style outer box. It’s rare to find these with the COA and in the original box!
