Product Description
This is a beautiful example of a 2011 S (San Francisco) United States Army Commemorative PROOF HALF DOLLAR. This coin was minted by the U.S. Mint in recognition of the establishment of the U.S. Army in 1775.
This coin pays honor to the American soldier of both yesterday and today, in wartime and in peace. It also commemorates the traditions, history, and heritage of the U.S. Army and its role in American society, from the colonial period to today.
Surcharges from the coin sale were paid to the Army Historical Foundation to support the construction of the National Museum of the United States Army at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
Front: The design represents significant contributions of the U.S. Army during peacetime and features a U.S. Army soldier surveying, two servicemen building a flood wall and a Redstone Army rocket used during early space exploration.
Reverse: This design symbolizes the U.S. Army as the first military service to defend the country and its key role in the Nation's internal development. It features an enlisted Continental soldier armed with a musket and 13 stars representing the original Colonies.
The coin is well struck with all the details being sharp and clean. The coin displays original vibrant lusters, flawless surfaces and strikes, with sharp details. Just the way a coin like this should look.
The coin comes with the original U.S. Mint box and the original Certificate of Authenticity.
