Cihuatán is a craft distillery based in the heart of the Cihuatán valley in El Salvador. A division of one of this country’s most diversified sugar mills, they control the entire production chain—from the sugarcane seed, to the distilling, aging, blending, and bottling. The land's ancient Mayan heritage is the inspiration for everything they do. The Maya were insatiably curious, which drove them to study the stars and numbers, explore new lands, and create ahead of their time. Cihuatán cherishes and celebrates this curiosity that drives us all to learn, explore, to grow, and enjoy life.

Sahumerio Limited Edition Aged Rum was created as a celebration of love. According to Mayan lore, fire was the symbol of love and the eagle goddess Chantico was its guardian. Thus, every loving home would keep a Sahumerio, a sacred vessel for fire. These Sahumerios would burn day and night in honor of love.

This limited edition is a blend of 4 rums between 12 and 14 years old and aged in American Oak ex-Bourbon barrels. These light and heavy rums were hand-selected to achieve the desired notes to mimic what the Maya used to burn in their Sahumerios. It shows a rich cocoa, honey, and dried apricot on the nose with a persistent berry, toasted oak, and clove flavor. Serve neat or on the rocks while enjoying steak, or a cured cheese with umami such as parmesan or Spanish manchego.
