Is there a backing on the unfur side or just tanned leather?

There is a very soft and warm backing on the back of all our throws.

Are the throws machine washable?

Fur products would need to be cleaned by hand with localized stains. Alpaca is naturally hypoallergenic and water-resistant so most stains will wipe right off. If there is a need to clean the piece a good shaking/dusting will suffice. You can also have the piece dry cleaned with someone who works with fur.
