The Hänska Maike Backpack can be closed in two different ways, creating different style and storage options to suit your mood as it changes. The zipped front pocket comes with a carabiner strapped in to stash your keys safely. Each Hänska bag is made out of a fabric normally used for robust soft-top boat covers, giving them a nod to nautical style and softening them with use.

Nora Hänska

Nora Hänska grew up at the sewing machine, with her mother as a fashion designer and practically everything
being home made in her childhood. She completed a BA in product deign in the UK and then returned to her hometown Berlin, where she is continuing her studies in fashion design. Her interest has always been in the borders between fashion and
product design, with an emotional bond to textiles.

In between founding a family and her studies, she developed a rucksack with which she wanted to start her own accessories company. The development began with a simple need. She was looking for a lightweight functional rucksack that wasn’t over-designed. Inspired by the simple but remarkably effective geometry of the paper envelope, Nora designed her first
rucksack. Her range of boutique bags is practical and minimalist, complimenting contemporary urban and outdoor lifestyles, keeping belongings safe and dry.

All her bags are crafted locally in Berlin to the highest standard, to ensure that you get the longest possible use out of our products. Made from high performance fabrics usually used on soft-top boats, they have a superior quality feel. Currently Nora is designing a collection of accompanying products to the rucksack, which will be launched this summer. Always on the lookout for new exciting high-tech materials which inspire the direction of the design.
