Beyond The Renaissance

In Europe in the 1600s, the original Baroque painters worked deliberately to set themselves apart from the painters of the Renaissance. Their work included intensely pigmented primary colors, with strong lighting, shadow, and contrast, and usually featured asymmetrical, chaotic and dramatic tableaus that appeared to be in motion - a direct opposition to the posed, airy, light, and tranquil Renaissance art that had been popular previously. This collection of artwork isn't from the 1600s, but it features those same Baroque elements, updated for the modern era.
