For over 40 years, Dictador has been meticulously perfecting the art of making rum according to family recipes and techniques passed down to Master Blender Hernan Parras. Now the time has come for this superior-aged rum to find its way to the workshops of some of the most outstanding artists of the spirit world—artists who expertly craft distinct categories of alcohol in the most exquisite ways imaginable.
Each master has been selected to represent their own category of alcohol based on exceptional craftsmanship that is beyond compare. They each receive specially selected barrels of Dictador rum to continue the unique maturing process in a different cellar, on a different continent, under the expertise of another Cellar Master. The result is a spirit which blurs the lines between categories and is rivaled by no other.
2 Masters Chateau D'Arche is a 37 year-old Dictador Rum from a 1980 single vintage cask finished in whisky barrels, then shipped to Château d’Arche in Sauternes, Bordeaux, France to be finished by Cellar Master Jérôme Cosson. There it spent six more months in American oak barrels of 225 litres (typical size for Bordeaux wines). This barrel has been filled up with Château d’Arche for the vintage 2014.
Nose
A plethora of sweetness with vanilla crème brulée, dark caramel-coated chocolate, and plenty of dried fruits including figs, dates ,and quince, then hints of toasted bread and orange rind.
Palate
Quite an interesting marriage with marzipan, dried apricots, and cloudberry marmalade over maple syrup, milk chocolate, and crème brulée. Once the initial burn dissipates, true rum character comes through overtaking the “foreign” flavors and it finishes nicely with a relatively balanced supple golden fruit cake with hints of toast. Fine and supple.
Color
A firm dark bronze going out into a lighter golden hue at the rim, showing high viscosity with fine long legs in the glass.
