Elites of Japan’s historic warrior class may have publicly frowned upon this slim-fitting kimono-inspired jacket, but they couldn’t help privately admiring its aesthetic appeal. Soaked ten times using the traditional Kyoto dye method, the jacket’s 100% double-woven cotton outer shell is then washed five times with the flannel inner lining to bleed the fabrics together, yielding a spectrum of rich indigo colors unique to each jacket.  Densely woven linen patches are stitched to the elbows and shoulder with a dramatic zigzag pattern reminiscent of a skillful Samurai sword move. This jacket’s svelte fit is more evocative of modern Harajuku than historic Kyoto, but a trace of tradition remains in the integrated waist band inspired by judo belts. Tanned leather buttons provide a warm visual contrast and round out its look.
