Every DuFrane watch is uniquely named after landmarks or historical figures associated with Austin, Texas, where they are based. The Bergstom is named after John August Earl Bergstrom, an Austin native and a US Army Captain who was stationed at Clark Field in the Philippines during WWII. Captain Bergstrom was killed by the simultaneous bombings of Pearl Harbor and other military areas in the Philippines in December 1941, becoming the first Austinite to be killed during the war. Captain Bergstrom was posthumously awarded a Purple Heart in February, 1943, and the Bergstrom International Airport in Austin is named for him.

In design and operation, the Bergstrom pilot watch is time-honored in every sense of the word. It features a manual wind Swiss ETA 6498-1 movement, an individually engraved exhibition sapphire case back, C3 Superluminova markers, and a classically clean form that offers utmost readability. This Bergstrom is one of only 300 ever made, and boasts a matte-finish stainless steel case, along with a separate subdial for counting the seconds. Your Bergstrom will also be delivered with a leather watch wallet, a warranty card, a polishing cloth, and two screw bar tools.

It will also come with three custom straps: the Horween Chromexcel leather strap that the watch was designed with, the signature blue suede strap that DuFrane includes with every watch sold, and a brand new, brown leather strap that's exclusively available to Touch of Modern members.
