John Wayne was not just an American icon, actor, and adventurer, he also had an extreme passion for spirits. After his death, a reserve of bottles dating back to 1962 were unearthed along with recipes containing his favorite blends. Duke Kentucky Bourbon was inspired by these rare bottles to craft their own Kentucky bourbon using handwritten notes from the True Grit star. Now you can drink like the Duke.
The Kentucky Straight Small Batch Bourbon is meticulously blended to replicate and honor the tasting notes and profile in John Wayne's original recipe and his private collection to guide flavor and aromatics. It features a proprietorial mash bill of predominately American bent corn with additions of rye with sixth-row barely. This small batched bourbon is then aged a minimum of 5 years in hand-selected, heavily charred, new and hand-built American Oak barrels.
It opens with notes of subtle charred oak, roasted nuts, hints of vanilla, caramel, and nutmeg. The mid-palate provides warm pepper spice and toasted nuts, finishing with a deeply satisfying robust sweetness in perfect combination.
