Art Print // Lost Grid J12
Product Description
"I start [Lost Grid J12] with a grid, which is comforting and easily understood. It is also confining, by locking me into a simple system of boxes. The grid itself leaves nothing to question: it is symbolic of things in life that are absolute — breath, gravity and light.
Culturally the grid represents the layout of cities. Similar to how urban spaces develop within the grid I use it as a backdrop where I exercise my need for expression. By manipulating it with colors and lines, I bend, hide and choose what stays and what gets lost. I need something to break away from. I gain a sense of freedom by breaking out of the confines of the grid, even if it is self-manufactured." — Evan Venegas

About the Designer
Evan Venegas was born in 1975 and raised in Queens, New York. Born into a family with artistic heritage, his father being a respected Latin Jazz musician and his brother a successful music producer. Evan began painting with oils at a young age. In his early teens he started developing his technique of realistic rendering of imaginative objects. He began his education at Parsons School of Design in New York.
After spending the first 20 years of his life in New York City. Evan was attracted to the seemingly open minded West Coast. He moved to San Francisco to study painting at the San Francisco Art Institute where the artist received his BFA. Whilst his work speaks for the pulse or beat of an urban existence and the rhythms of life, he welcomes other interpretations of his work and hopes to portray pictures which convey not an exclusive interpretation but rather a visual language that is more universal and encompassing.
