Product Description

The infamous Gurkhas are special op’s military units in the British military enlisted in Nepal. Although they meet many of the requirements of the Geneva Conventions defining mercenaries, they are exempt, much like the French Foreign Legion. Former Chief of staff of the Indian Army, Field Marshal Manekshaw, once famously stated about Gurkhas: "If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or is a Gurkha." Gurkhas were thought to be a martial culture because they were considered to be naturally warlike and aggressive in battle to possess courage, loyalty, self-sufficiency, physical strength, resilience, orderliness, and to fight with tenacity and military strength.

Gurkha units are closely associated with the kukri- a forward/inward-curving Nepalese knife. The kukri is a curved Nepalese knife, similar to the machete, used as both a tool and a weapon. The cutting edge is inwardly curved in shape and is the icon of Nepal. It was, and in many cases still is, the basic and traditional utility knife of the Nepalese people. Very effective when used as a weapon, it is a symbolic weapon of the Nepalese Army, and of all Gurkha regiments throughout the world, signifying the courage and valor of the bearer in the battlefield.

It is in the tradition of these historic warriors and their trademark Kukri that this Gurkha Damascus Warrior Knife was designed. Much shorter than the traditional Kukri, this modified blade is 9.5” in length, making it easier to handle, featuring the traditional Kukri inward curve, giving this knife a well-balanced hardy feel. A blade any Gurkha would be proud to carry! It even includes a full grain, hand stitched leather sheath for comfortable carrying.

Each knife in this collection is individually handmade with the same dedication to detail, and with all-natural materials. This means that each knife will vary slightly in its exact color, shape, and pattern, so you can rest assured that absolutely no two knives - even of the same model - will ever look identical or mass-produced.
