Product Description

Scotch-Irish settlers poured into the Southern colonies through the 17th and 18th centuries, descendants of the war-like Celts that hailed from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall and the English Uplands. These rough and scrappy Scotch-Irish immigrants not only brought with them their ancestors’ penchant for herding, but also imported their love of whiskey, music, leisure, gambling, hunting, and primal code of honor. Even as the South began to become an agricultural powerhouse, the majority of Southerners continued to raise hogs and livestock. Whether a man spent most his time working a farm or herding his animals, the culture of honor, with its emphasis on courage, strength, and violence — characterized an aggressive stance towards the world.

The Herdsman Damascus Knife was named after this scrappy group because of its utilitarian design and practical use for a herdsman. Made with a drop pattern of 264 layers of Damascus steel and a smooth camel bone handle, the Herdsman has a straightforward look and is meant to be used and abused. Perfect as your everyday work knife and the price won’t break the bank.
