Product Description

The karambit originated among the Minangkabau people of West Sumatra where it was inspired by the claws of a tiger. While the early karambits were used as tools, it was soon weaponized because the curved blade had so much cutting potential. Soldiers in Indonesia would carry a dagger, called a Kris, and a spear. The karambit was always used a weapon of last resort and close quarters combat. Today the karambit is a favorite among martial artists and tactical users.

This Damascus Steel Karambit is full tang and made of 1095 and 15n20 steel. The high carbon content of 1095 gives this karambit an extremely sharp and durable edge. The exposed Damascus steel safety ring will give you plenty of control when using this knife. The safety ring helps prevent the knife from sliding in your hand and allows you to spin the karambit to change hand positions. The smooth, ergonomic tali wood handle finishes off the tiger claw look and every looks like the skin of a tiger. Although it won’t help you in combat, we added a bottle opener to the spine, because who doesn’t need a bottle opener on a karambit.

Each knife in this collection is individually handmade with the same dedication to detail, and with all-natural materials. This means that each knife will vary slightly in its exact color, shape, and pattern, so you can rest assured that absolutely no two knives - even of the same model - will ever look identical or mass-produced.

Damascus steel can rust if not cared for properly. Do not keep Damascus steel in a leather sheath for long periods of time, as the leather can cause the steel to rust. Please be aware Damascus steel products will arrive fully coated in a protective, non-toxic mineral oil, which can be easily washed off before use. Damascus steel should be regularly oiled with any household oil over the course of its life to prevent corrosion.
