Cão Damascus Knife
Product Description
Cão Damascus Knife was born in the middle of the 15th century and was one of the most prominent navigators during the Age of Discovery. Most notable were his explorations of the Congo River and the coasts of modern-day Angola and Namibia.
In 1485, Cão sailed further than anyone had yet been up the Congo River. Near Ielala Falls, he left an inscription engraved on stone: “Here arrived the ships of the enlightened King John II of Portugal - Diogo Cão, Pero de Costa”. The unique hand carved camel bone handle and conventional shape of this Cão Damascus blade reminds us of the spirit of Diogo Cão and the explorer’s many travels around Africa.
