Product Description

Operation Gunnerside was claimed to be one of the most successful acts of sabotage in all of World War II. Prior to World War II Norway built a commercial plant capable of producing heavy water (deuterium oxide) which could be used by the Nazis to produce nuclear weapons. In February 1943 a team of British SOE-trained Norwegian commandos succeeded in destroying the production facility with Operation Gunnerside. This operation and Allied bombing raids forced the Germans to remove the remaining heavy water to Germany. Norwegian resistance forces sank the ferry preventing the heavy water from being removed.

The Gunnerside Damascus Knife was named after the special forces commandos that destroyed the production plant. With its curved drop point the blade is very strong and can hold up to a lot of abuse. For this reason this style of knife has become very popular with tactical and survival groups. This knife has greater balance than many other styles of knives and makes it easier to control the blade. Made with a solid walnut handle and 256 layers of Damascus steel, this knife will give you a lifetime of use.
