Confucius was a renowned Chinese Philosopher who was also, surprisingly influential in the rise of chopsticks popularity. He believed having knives evoked violence and reminded those at the dinner table of warfare. Due in part to his peaceful teachings and not wanting to disrupt the calm during meals, chopsticks were seen more commonly throughout Asia.

In the past, wealthy diners owned silver chopsticks with the belief that if they came in contact with food that had been poisoned, the chopstick would corrode and turn black. These Damascus steel chopsticks may not have poison detection capabilities, but they are sure to be an excellent addition to your dinner table.

The Confucius Damascus Steel Chopstick have a squared handle area that is tapered into a round shape at the base of the chopstick. This design makes the chopsticks easier to hold and use. The Damascus steel has a slight texture which makes grasping and holding your food a little easier. Each chopstick set also comes with a solid Damascus steel rest. The rest has a concave surface on the top and bottom to hold your chopsticks when not in use.

Please note: Each one is handmade from natural materials and may vary slightly in color, Damascus pattern, and overall look. Damascus steel can rust if not cared for properly. Do not keep Damascus steel in a leather sheath for long periods of time, as the leather can cause the steel to rust. Please be aware Damascus steel products will arrive fully coated in a protective, non-toxic mineral oil, which can be easily washed off before use. Damascus steel should be regularly oiled with any household oil over the course of its life to prevent corrosion.
