This breathtaking amethyst geode is lined with large, deep purple crystals. Amethyst has been prized for centuries due to its luscious color and inherent beauty. This particular piece is considered jewelry grade (the highest grade) due to the quality and color of its crystals.

Traditionally, amethyst is known as the birthstone of February. It is associated with contentment and calmness. Although today amethyst is classified as a semi-precious gemstone, historically, it has been valued en par with diamonds and rubies. Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz. Interestingly, the name comes from the Ancient Greek amethustos, meaning not intoxicated.
