Vivid ochre, burnt orange and soot black make this natural object resonate like a painting. Dendritic is a term used to describe the way that the minerals crystallize like tree branches. Not to be confused with fossils, these fractal formations came about as water laden with manganese and iron gradually passed through layers of limestone.
