FAQ
Does this need to be plugged into an electrical outlet?

No, this does not use electricity. Water is stored inside in a reservoir, and drawn up through a natural capillary wicking action into the soil as it dry, feeding the plants water when they need it.

How long on average can the water source last in one of these planters before a refill is required?

In hot weather, they can last up to a month with less thirsty plants, but really thirsty plants like tomatoes may need a top-up in one-two weeks. In winter they can last for months with leafy greens and root vegetables.

Does this need to be connected to a water supply or is it refilled manually?

It can be manually watered through the fill points, or directly through the soil. Also, there are connector spigots included that can be attached on the side, so it is feasible to hook it up to a timer and water supply.

When should the soil be changed out of one of these?

It's good to refresh the soil at the start of every spring and fall. That doesn't always need to be a full replacement, even just additional organic compost, and slow-release fertilizer can do the trick!
