Hamilton Selway
Roy Lichtensetin // Still Life with Figurine // 1974
Product Description
A contemporary of Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, and James Rosenquist, Roy Lichtenstein (1923-1997) was a leading figure of the Pop art movement, which defined the premise of art through parody. Lichtenstein's work was influenced by popular advertising, comic books, and comic strips— producing precise compositions that documented while they parodied, and often in a tongue-in-cheek manner. He described pop art as “not ‘American’ painting but actually industrial painting”.
