First there was the Koinonia Foundation, founded by missionary doctor Dale Williams. Koinonia Foundation found a niche in solarizing off-grid rural schools in Rwanda, Africa. His youngest son Andrew came on board and eventually Koinonia Foundation became an international presence with a mission of modernizing education through solar-powered computer labs. Dr. Williams saw a need to replace kerosene lanterns used by students for studying at night. That is how the heli® came to be.
