Helko
Helko has been exporting some of the finest hand-forged axes
in the world since 1844. Originally based out of Cronenberg, now a district of Wuppertal, Germany, Helko quickly earned a reputation throughout Europe as a manufacturer of high-quality woodworking tools. By the early twentieth century, it had already begun exporting axes to Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Each piece is handcrafted by Helko’s master smiths with over 170 years of expertise. Once the smith is satisfied with his work, the Helko crown is hammered into the cheek. No supplementary work, such as grinding, buffing, or painting is performed, thereby allowing each blade to proudly display its forging marks. As no two pieces are exactly alike, each axe is truly unique. Today, it exports its tools to over 40 countries, and its name is synonymous with high-quality German craftsmanship.
