Product Description

The 2012 Highwayman Reserve Proprietary Red, Sonoma County is a Proprietary Red Blend that shines from start to finish with a nose of dark cherry and bark then hits the front and mid-palate with enormity of blackberry preserves, yet remains austere through the finish by way of cedar-like oak notes and a touch of pencil shaving. Supported by some good tannins, this strong, brooding bottle handled its age well and has a few to go! Enjoy with rich pork stew and buttery herbed fingerling potatoes.

The grandfather of the Highwayman family, the compelling blend of the five Bordeaux varietals in the 2013 Highwayman Reserve Proprietary Red, Sonoma County shows us the strength of capable winemaking. The cohesiveness of the black fruit, oak and tannins provides us with the tools we need to see the monstrous beauty of this wine dominated by fig, cocoa and violets. Pair it with a grilled rib eye topped with herbed compound butter. Or grab a cigar.

Last but not least, this latest vintage 2014 Highwayman Reserve Proprietary Red, Sonoma County of the coveted and revered Proprietary Blend doesn’t disappoint in any way. From the color — a deep dark plum—to the nose, a gripping whiff of violets, leather and tobacco, this stunner promises a bold sipper. The bright black fruit, blueberry and cassis are complemented by a juxtaposition of wood and metal shavings, creating a nice harmony. Toasty oak and grippy tannins round this out to present a solid collectable. Pairs well with grilled Bloody Mary tri-tip or pasta with wild boar ragu and shaved pecorino.
