The Horizon Black MAX is a precision engineered, collectible artwork that absorbs almost all light within the visible spectrum, placing it among the darkest things in the known Universe. The 100mm wide piece featured in the MAX is significantly blacker than all super-black paints and can absorb >99.9% of light in the visible spectrum.

How It Works
The black area consists of a nanoscale array grown on a specially etched aluminum substrate using a chemical deposition process. The shape and arrangement of molecules within this array allows it to trap the vast majority of incoming photons and then radiate that energy out in the form of heat, rather than light. The array comes fixed in a transparent acrylic display case featuring a transparent, removable magnetic lid.
