Horse Soldier® Bourbon Whiskey was created by a group of friends who banded together after years of military service. In the wake of the 9/11 attacks, the US responded with a daring insertion of small teams of Green Berets into northern Afghanistan. The Northern Alliance successfully overthrew Mazar-i-Sharif, a Taliban stronghold, with the support of these brave men. This region’s inhospitable, mountainous terrain made efforts and enemy engagements on wild Afghan horses a necessity for one Special Operations team (ODA595), nicknamed the “Horse Soldiers”. Nearly 20 years later, these soldiers continue to live legendary lives by instilling pride and an adventurous spirit into every bottle of Horse Soldier® Bourbon Whiskey.
Horse Soldier® Commander's Select is a limited production run of just 1,000 bottles from the oldest barrels in their team’s Signature Reserve. The second release of Horse Soldier® Commander’s Select, it was awarded Double Gold at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Each bottle includes a military serial numbered challenge coin.
After 12 years in new American oak barrels, this all-American bourbon recipe of corn, rye, and malted barley is at the peak of development. It offers notes of caramel, honey, butterscotch, woodiness, cashew and spiced raisin with a hint of toffee. A deep inhale provides the nose sweet aromas with honey, apples, citrus, toffee and leather. While it can be used in mixing elegant cocktails, it is meant to be sipped Neat or with Ice. For cocktails, try Sazerac, Old Fashioned, and the Manhattan.
This bundle includes one 10.5 oz rocks glass with a weighted bottom so you can serve this premium bourbon in style.
