Is the tray insulated so ice will last longer when out of freezer?

The ICEBREAKER® URBAN is a closed airtight compartment, thereby insulating the ice much better compared to serving the ice in a bowl. In room temperature, the ice will start to melt after an hour.

Say you use about 6 cubes ( half capacity ), at that point can you refill the vessel with more water & refreeze for the next usage?

No, you will have to empty the ICEBREAKER before refilling with water.
