Ilumi started with a simple idea: to make lights better. In the Fall of 2010, MBA classmates Swapnil Bora and Corey Egan took their vision to the annual Business Idea Competition at the University of Texas at Dallas. They pitched an app-controlled LED light, and he idea won first place and came with a $5,000 prize that directly funded the company's founding. Ilumi was born.
