About the Designer

Artist Jason Laurits was born and raised in the often-forgotten state of Delaware to an American mother/teacher and an Estonian-born, Brooklyn-raised father/Air Force pilot. It was here where he experienced American life, the good of simple things and the forever-kookiness of small-town normality.

The American Dream got a hold of him, for better or worse, and he had to get out of Delaware: first film school in Miami, then showbiz in LA, and music in New York. He taught himself to silkscreen and he would hang posters of himself around East Village laundromats for midweek shows at CBGBs and the Continental.

Jason moved to London to shop a demo, however it didn’t go anywhere. He decided to find a weekend gig, selling silkscreened tees at markets. He was finally able to make a living with this new venture. He moved back to New York, finished college (Creative Writing at the New School), and started silkscreening his graphics on t-shirts again and selling them around NYC. He created a brand, Paste, and Jason continues to create graphics for T-shirts and other products.
