The Ryukyu Islands are a chain of isolated lands lingering in crystal blue seas. This historic Japanese region blends a delightful maritime culture with delectable regional cuisine grown from rich beds of tropical soil. Among these islands is Okinawa, where time moves slow and community ties are strong. Known for the indigenous spirit Awamori (Okinawan アームイor āmui), customary distilling techniques have evolved to bring a taste of Ryukyu to the world in the form of Kujira Single Grain Ryukyu Whisky.

From their dream-like home on the island of Ishigaki, the distillers of Taesen Shuzo have gifted the Okinawan community with handcrafted spirits since 1955. Now, they present the world with this limited-release taste of Okinawa, made from 100% Japanese long rice and native black Koji. Aged in virgin American oak surrounded by serenity and salty Pacific air, the youngest of the celebrated Kujira Ryukyu Whisky line is mature beyond its years. Medium bodied and light copper in color, aromas of toffee and stone fruits complement a complex palate of caramel, plum, and rich honey. Sip slowly—this whisky’s on island time.
