Azienda Agricola Luciano Arduini is a family-owned Italian wine producer located in Marano di Valpolicella. The estate produces a range of the area's traditional wines, including Valpolicella Classico, Amarone della Valpolicella, Recioto della Valpolicella, Valpolicella Classico Superiore and Grappa di Amarone, as well as Veronese IGT wines from native Italian grape varieties. The family vineyards were founded in the 1940s by Gabriele Arduini and with the help of his sons, two more vineyards were added to the family's holdings in 1969. The estate today is managed by Gabriele's grandson, Luciano Arduini.
Luciano Arduini's flagship wine is its Amarone della Valpolicella Classico. This 2013 vintage is an intense ruby red with aromas of blackberry and cherry harmonized with spicy notes from the oak. The wine is complex on the palate, but extremely balanced thanks to the velvety tannins in the finish. Ideal to accompany game dishes, skewered meats, roasts and aged cheeses.
To create Amarone is an exercise in precision and patience. Post-harvest, native red grape varieties are slowly dried until January, when their sugars and acids have reached the perfect intensity. Undiluted by water, they’re then gently fermented over a period of weeks to squeeze their concentrated flavors into a deep, rich, red designed to last decades but all too easy to drink right away.
This wine was awarded 98 points by Luca Maroni, and 90 points by Wine Enthusiast.
