Luciteria
Lucite Cube // Hydrogen
Product Description
Everything starts with hydrogen. It is the simplest and most abundant atom in the universe. It powers the sun and is a key building block for water, so it's deeply essential for all life. But the hydrogen displayed here, Tritium, is of a lesser know flavor. As the name implies, this is a proton-neutron-neutron trio.
In nature, this arrangement is unstable, resulting in one of the neutrons eventually being expelled, creating an exotic form of low-level radioactive helium, eventually decaying over the course of twelve years.
As it decays, electrons are released, which produces light when it collides with phosphors. This cube contains a small vial filled with tritium gas, and lined with the brightest phosphor available. When the lights are turned off, the vial comes to life with an eerie blue glow that will stay bright for at least a decade to come!
